ART-INSTALLATION
A sculpture designed by artist Maria Lau Krogh in collaboration with architect Hasse Selvig Sandell Krydsrum Architects in connection with Confirmation Meeting 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 - The artwork is still hanging over the high altar at the annual Confirmation meeting to this day.
The sculpture hangs above the high altar in Roskilde Cathedral, expressing a giant dove, symbol of the Holy Spirit, freedom and peace. The dove has a wingspan of 6 meters, and the material is plexiglass.
2800 confirmers have provided feathers for the sculpture, each feather contains a prayer, hope for the future. The many feathers are gathered in small piles and attached to the wings of the Dove. The sculpture is illuminated so the expression changes according to the color illumination. It can be luminous white and take on the colors of the rainbow. The glass reflects the dove and feathers in several places of the interior of the Cathedral.
Lighting design: Søren Kyed
